What is Nerd Alert and what kind of help can I get from Nerd Alert?

Nerd Alert provides people and businesses with an easy and trusted way to get tech support, setup, training and repair right to your door from helpful Nerds in your own community. If you need something done or want some helpful pointers, we’ll connect you with a Certified Nerd who can do it.

We currently offer Nerds in the following categories:

  • Tech Help, Setup, Troubleshooting &Training for: iPhone, Android, iPad, Kindle, Tablets, Mac & Windows Computers, Social Media, QuickBooks, Quicken and miscellaneous Software, Voice Assistants (Alexa, Google Home, Apple Homepod), Smart Cars& Bluetooth (Tesla, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, and more) Printers & Scanners, Home Wi-Fi, Apple & Other Smart Watches, Ring Doorbell, Smart Locks, and so much more.
  • Computer Repair: Mac & PC Computer Diagnosis, Virus &, Malware, Spyware Removal, Data Transfer, Data Recovery, Computer Scam Help, Operating System Upgrades and Software Updates.

This means you can use Nerd Alert for help with anything from setting up your Wi-Fi so you can surf the web from anywhere to teaching you how to use certain apps/programs to make your connections with family, friends and business partners all the easier.

We also do the nasty stuff like removing viruses from your computer so it doesn’t slow to a snail’s pace.

Who are the Nerds?

We select Nerds after they apply online, go through compatibility screening, undergo a federal background test and then pass our specific skill and technical testing and requirements for the services which they want to perform.

The Nerds in our community include college students, young professionals, stay-at-home parents, retirees and anyone else who wants to help their neighbors while earning some extra money. We’re proud that the Nerds represent a broad slice of the community.

What are your business hours?

Our office hours are Monday – Friday, from 9am-6pm. As of now, we are closed on the weekend. During business hours, we are always available to take your calls. Just call us at 561-300-6763.

We always have agents available, but If we miss your call due to please leave a message with your name, best call back number and time, email and a description of how we can help you and we promise we’ll call you back as soon as possible.

How much does it cost for a Nerd to come assist me?

All services performed by Nerd Alert are $80 per hour. For Businesses, our hourly rate is $120 per hour.

With custom jobs or projects, or depending on the work for homes or businesses, we can provide an overall quote is the job will be more than 10 hours.

How does payment work?

All appointments are paid for by credit card and made directly to Nerd Alert. During booking, our agents will get a credit card to book and confirm your appointment. You will not be charged until after the appointment is completed and you approve and sign off on the Nerd’s device.

How do I become a Nerd?

We review applications on a rolling basis and will contact you if we believe you may be a good fit for the community.

How do I Alert a Nerd to help me?

Getting help that will come to your doorstep is easy:

  • 1. Click here to book online or call us at 561-300-6763 to schedule your appointment. In most cases, we try to schedule appointments for same day help if there are Nerds available. Our goal is to get a Nerd out to your home within 48hrs or at a time in the future that is convenient for you.
  • 2. As soon as we know what you need help with we’ll send out a Nerd Alert and match you with the best Certified Nerd for your needs.

Can I speak to my Nerd in advance of them showing up to discuss my issue in more detail?

Our agents are not Nerds. Although they can answer a lot of questions regarding customer service and general appointments, if there is a technical question that you need to ask, we can certainly have one of our Nerds contact you so that you can asked a more detailed question prior to booking an appoint or regarding your upcoming appointment.

What if my Nerd never shows up to our scheduled appointment?

In the event your Nerd does not show up within 30 of the scheduled time and has not contacted you to inform you they are running late, please call us immediately at 561-300-6763 to let us know.

What if I need something done that isn’t listed as one of your services?

If you don’t see the service you need on our website, just call us at 561-300-6763 and tell us what it is you need help with.

If we have Nerds who are able to assist with your needs, we will definitely schedule it. We do get special requests and have been able accommodate each time or point you in the right direction to get the help you need.

Lastly, we are always adding new services as technology is constantly changing.

How do I pay my Nerd?

All appointments are paid for by credit card and made directly to Nerd Alert. During booking, our agents will get a credit card to book and confirm your appointment. You will not be charged until after the appointment is completed and you approve and sign off on the Nerd’s device.

If my Nerd is able to fix my problem to my satisfaction in less than an hour, am I still billed the full hourly rate?

Yes. Any appointment that is fully completed to your satisfaction in under an hour will still result in you paying the full hourly rate. After that, you will be billed in 30 min increments.
So for example, if you’re internet is down and a Nerd comes to you and fixes it in 30 minutes, you will still be charged for the full hourly rate for this service.

However, if you have an issue that takes 90 minutes to fix as opposed to a full 2 hours, you would only be charged the hour and a half rate which would be $120.

How do I use my discount?

Nerd Alert has partnered with a lot of gated communities throughout Florida, and as a resident of those communities we provide discounts on the first appointment booked. Please let the agent know that you have a coupon when booking.

Also, we are always offering promotions via direct mail, email campaigns as well as social media. Mention your coupon to your agent when booking so that we can apply it on the appointment.

I had an appointment and my problem still persists, what now?

Our policy is satisfaction guaranteed. If your problem still persists or what you hired Nerd Alert for was not done properly, give us a call and tell us more and we will make it right if it was something that we dropped the ball on.

I love my Nerd and want to book another appointment with them, how can I get the same person?

You can request your Nerd the next time you need to schedule an appointment. We’re more than happy to alert your Nerd of your request and if they are available we’ll get you all booked up.

For your safety and security please remember that scheduling a Nerd outside of the proper booking channels of the Nerd Alert website or phone number may result in an experience that cannot and will not be covered and/or protected by Nerd Alert.
