It’s now easy to command light to be, and it will be. That’s how powerful smart lights have made us become. Smart lighting is one of the easiest ways to start if you want to dip your toe into the world of smart home tech. They have LED light bulbs that can be controlled using a smartphone, tablet, or smart home automation system.
Although they are more expensive than traditional light bulbs or even regular LED bulbs, they’re easy to set up and use, and they have enough features to give you a sense of what’s possible. They also use less energy and should last as long as traditional LED bulbs.
Let’s take a look at some reasons why you should install smart lights in your home.
1. Save money and energy with smart lights.
With smart lights, you can perform daylight harvesting by using light sensors to automatically adjust the brightness of the lighting according to how much natural light is available in the room. Smart lights also help you save money and energy especially when you forget to switch off some lights while leaving home. Leaving lights on when they aren’t required can end up costing a lot of money in electricity bills. However, with a fully integrated lighting system, you can control the light in question and turn it off with a simple tap on the screen from anywhere with Internet access.
2. Sleep better with smart lights.
Smart lighting can be used to improve sleep. Our brains respond to lower light by releasing melatonin. This Melatonin usually increases in the evening and peaks at night. That’s why many smart bulbs have been made to emit different colour temperatures that are specifically designed to trigger the release of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin. The opposite can also be done in the mornings, helping to reduce the production of melatonin during the day to increase your productivity.
3. Increase security with smart lights.
Thieves can often tell when a house is unoccupied for any length of time, but you can make your lights behave as though there was someone home when your house is empty. You can control the lights from anywhere in the world with an internet connection or simply program your smart lights to come on as it goes dark for a few hours in the evening making it seem someone is at home even though you’re thousands of miles away.
There are many more reasons why you should install smart lights in your home; however, using smart lights have its cons as well. Some of the disadvantages of smart lights are:
1. Wireless systems can be unreliable
2. It can’t be easily taken with you when you move
3. Badly setup systems can be difficult to use.
In conclusion, smart lighting can be a good addition to your home. You should try it out.
