Mac Mini was first launched in 2014. It is already 2018 and until today, there are people hoping that a new version will be released in 2018. Apple hasn’t said anything about it and last year came and went without any clear answers.

What is Mac Mini?

Apple says that this device is “mini in a massive way”. This can bring you the full Mac experience in a 19.7-cm square frame. You can connect your keyboard, monitor, and mouse and you are good to go. The specs include Intel HD Graphics 5000 and Intel Iris Graphics which is 90 per cent faster than other devices made on the previous generation.

Mac Mini is made of a solid aluminium block. It is also petite and energy efficient. It weighs less than 2 kilograms and the length is less than 4 centimetres. You can bring it anywhere. This device has built-in apps including GarageBand, PagesiMoviePhotosNumbers, and Keynote which you can use any time of the day.
Technical Specifications of Mac Mini

You can choose from a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 to 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 for the processors. The storage options are 50GB, 1TB hard drive and 1TB fusion drive. The memory ranges from 4GB of 1600MHz to 8GB of 1600MHz. The video can support from the 1080p resolution at up to 60H to 4096 – by – 2160 resolution at 2Hz. The box contains the Mac mini device and the power cord.

Prices

You can buy a brand new Mac mini from Apple, and other online stores. For the 1.4GHz the current price ranges from $399 to $499. The 2.6GHz price ranges from $599 to $699. The 2.8GHz costs from $949 up to $1088.99.
Is it worth it?

The last time that Apple announced an upgrade was 2014. This is the cheapest Mac that you can buy. However, it is hard to say that this is the best product since Apple can stop supporting this anytime. A newer version of Mac Mini is now long overdue. There are rumours spreading that they might be released on October or September in 2018 but they are just rumours.

The processor is ancient and underpowered. The 2012 Mac Mini model had quad-core but the 2014 model removed it entirely. The Mac Mini 201runs on dual-core and the market is not looking at octa-core in terms of computer technology.

If you are aiming to play games, you can think twice if you want to buy Mac Mini. The graphics run at Intel HD Graphics 5,000. Sure, it can run Arkham City and Batman but if you are aiming for a full resolution, it runs too slow.

You can’t upgrade it easily. Apple made the side screws tamper-proof. They don’t provide automatic releases for possible compatibility issues that might occur with high-speed computers nowadays. You need to buy a monitor, keyboard, and mouse in order for the Mac Mini to be fully functional. The requirements are also not cheap.

Do some researches first before you take a plunge in buying the Mini Mac.
